About Me

For nearly twenty years, I have been making and repairing books. Over that time, I have worked with a range of recognised institutions, including the Victoria and Albert Museum, Royal Institute of British Architects, and The National Archives. I have also worked with leading commercial conservation studios such as National Conservation Service and Plowden & Smith, as well as undertaking international work in the UAE. Alongside this, like many conservators, I have maintained an independent practice.
I now share this experience as Books Tutor at West Dean College, where I have taught across Foundation, Graduate and Masters programmes in book conservation and bookbinding for the past five years. During this time, I have had the privilege of seeing many talented students enter the field of conservation.
This depth of knowledge underpins my private practice. I undertake conservation and binding commissions, and offer both in-person and online workshops for those wishing to learn the craft. If you have a project in mind, or would like to explore bookbinding further, you are very welcome to get in touch.
Working hands-on for so many years, the urge to explore materials in different ways has always been part of my practice. More recently, this led me to begin making dolls and clothing.
What began as something for my children - simple, tactile objects to encourage imaginative play - quickly became an extension of my making. The same attention to material, construction, and longevity carries through, albeit in a quieter and more playful form.
I continue to develop this work alongside my conservation practice, creating dolls and small handmade pieces to be used, enjoyed, and kept. Each one is part of an ongoing process of learning and refinement, and I am pleased to share them here.
